Story Plot Thought Character Diction Music Spectacle

These are the 7 most important elements in Film and Theatre. The only difference is that in CINEMA, these elements are RECORDED and REPRODUCABLE

There are maybe two types of films. First Type is full of emotion and the audience is filled with emotional outburst and when the film ends there is any thinking that remains for long. This type creates ILLUSION by MESMERISING the audience.

The Second Type is those films that ask the audience to think, to question, to understand SOCIAL, POLITICAL, ECONOMIC, THEORICAL perspective. The second type makes the audience THINK about the film, long after the film is over

While watching a film you must look at the story/plot (they are NOT same), that has three stages of movement.

1. Opening 2. Middle 3. End

This is a classic STRUCTURE of storytelling. But there can be many variations.

Also consider the SUBJECTIVE - OBJECTIVE duality of looking and explaining a work of art.  Subjective is orthodox and personal, Objective is impersonal and ANALYTICAL.
